  • Q: I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years and at first I was really interested in sex, we would do it about 4 times a day when I saw him on weekends and there was never any pain or problems. After about 6 months it got really painful. Now when we have sex it hurts every time, it doesnt matter how turned on I am it always hurts when he first puts his penis in, its like a stinging or chaffing... even if I have ample lubrication down there. The pain goes away if I make him stop moving for a while or if he continues slowly but it puts me off having sex because Im afraid of it hurting, the next day it is always very painful and almost impossible to have sex. Because of this we usually only have sex once a week, which frustrates him because he is always interested. Do you know what might be causing this? Its really affecting our sex life.

  • Q: Dear Dr Hickman, I'm 22 years old and have no sex drive. I gave birth to my beautiful daughter 18 months ago and since then, i have had no desire to have sex with my partner. It's not that i don't find him attractive because i do, i just don't feel like sex, ever. Even if I'm not overly arroused, I have no control over this flood! I tried to talk to a doctor at a family planning clinic, but I don't think she quite understood, and at most treated me for thrush. But that is not the issue. It always happens and for me, is just as big a problem as it is for those that need to use lubrication, we sometimes have to stop to sort of clean up.
